Basic Function The City of Coppell Parks Maintenance Worker I performs maintenance and repairs on parks, ball fields, and general city property. This employee performs duties and tasks outside, which require a high degree of physical activity and effort, and is exposed to a variety of extreme weather and working conditions. Regular attendance and excellent work ethic is an essential job function and employment duties are routinely performed Monday-Friday, with additional hours as needed on-call. Valid driver's license with good driving record required.Essential Job Functions Essential Job Functions *Is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the sports fields and the associated recreational facilities and park areas. *Is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the public parks and grounds around the city's public buildings. *Performs general maintenance tasks and cleaning duties in public parks and related facilities. *Performs general landscape maintenance duties that includes cultivation, installation, and caring for plants, trees, shrubs and flowers. *Does mowing, trimming, edging, trash pick up, fence building, facilities maintenance and cleaning. *Applies chemicals and fertilizers to park grounds, operate and perform minor maintenance on equipment and tools that he uses. *Prepares facilities for use by different groups and organizations; repairs and maintains park irrigation systems and performs minor carpentry, plumbing, welding and maintenance duties. *Performs all other related duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent required. At least six months experience in a related field preferred. Additional knowledge in operation and maintenance of irrigation systems, mechanical and small engine repairs is desired.
